‘MASTERCRAFT’ is a creative enterprise initially run by the krafty family creative duo, my mum Martha and my sis Loretta, in the premises of our home in Goa . While my mum was learning to make paper flowers at the age of 17, her instructor quit. However, with encouragement from her family, she graduated from a pupil to a teacher, due to her fine innate skill and over the years the few paper flowers she learnt, increased to @150 varieties in different types of fabric, paper and even stale bread. She also took orders for wedding accessories involving flowers. She made flowers for over six decades but now at 85, she's slowed down a great deal and needs my sisters help to make them.
Loretta picked up the flower making skills, just watching mum. Besides helping her teach, she herself used to teach hand embroidery, crochet, fabric painting, candle making cooking and baking. Now, she only takes orders for the bridal trousseau, and for new born baby clothes.
Helga, my niece also in Goa, is into all kinds of crafts. She is a stay at home mum of two, aged 9 and 5, a busy body who manages to craft when the kids are asleep. She's more into baking and cake decorating now and takes orders for the same.
I’m Leanne, a mum of three teens, a school nurse and craft teacher. I enjoy paper crafting. I also like cake decorating, but seldom do it now. I hope to share my 3D crafts including cakes at ‘MASTERCRAFT’.
Although the branches of our family tree have grown far apart, we all have the same arty-crafty roots. Our three youngsters of the family Alisha 18, Aaron 13 and Kaitlyn 9 will also showcase their work here.
In conclusion I'd like to add that, none of us are professionals. We either learnt some basics at school, followed books or learnt from each other.
